Liqueurs

Listed among the Traditional Agri-food products by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies there are also some liqueurs for the Abruzzo region, such as Centerba or cianterba, gentiana lutea-based liqueur or gentian amaro, saffron liqueur and Ratafià or Rattafia. The first is an aromatic liqueur obtained through the distillation of one hundred aromatic and medicinal mountain herbs, as the name suggests.

The centerba liqueur which can even exceed 70 ° alcohol is one of the strongest Italian liqueurs, as well as one of the best known. Even today the Gentian lutea-based liqueur has always been present in the popular Abruzzo tradition and the production and maturation process of this liqueur still strictly respects the times and methods indicated in the ancient recipes. The saffron-based liqueur, on the other hand, has an analgesic, antispasmodic, sedative, digestive, stimulating and invigorating power. Finally, Ratafià, also called ratafia or rataffia, is a liqueur generically composed of an infusion based on fruit and alcohol
