Azienda Agriverde - Organic cellars and vineyards since 1991

Cantina Agriverde has its roots in the history of one of the oldest families of producers in Abruzzo: the Di Carlo family, wine producers already in the first half of the 19th century. This is evidenced by an original letter still preserved in the company, in which Camillo Di Carlo on 13 December 1830 announced to his father their first export "to the distant lands of Savoy". Since then, the Di Carlo family has handed down the passion for enology from father to son, a human and professional heritage that still represents a precious witness to be left as a dowry to future generations. In the second half of the 1980s Giannicola Di Carlo, bio-agronomist, took over the leadership of the cellars. With his management all the production is converted to the organic method and Agriverde is certified by ICEA (Institute of Environmental Ethical Certification) already in 1991, in conjunction with the promulgation of the first European regulation on organic agriculture (Reg. CEE 2092/91) , one of the first organic wineries in Italy. Certified by ICEA in 1991, Agriverde was among the first wineries in Italy to believe and bet on a new production logic: ethical, sustainable, above all healthy.

For this reason, in 1988 it converted the 65 hectares of property to the organic regime, anticipating the first European regulation on organic farming by a few years and attracting the attention of leading experts in the sector also for innovative agronomic practices that respect the environment: the Reverse of leguminous plants, for example, which through the nitrogen-fixers (tubercles-radicals mycorrhized on the root system), are able to fix the atmospheric nitrogen in the soil avoiding the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers, or the pesticide fight "for sexual confusion ”which is based on the use of pheromone dispensers which, emanating from the vineyard, lead to the disorientation of the insect and the lack of reproduction.

Always at the forefront of research and innovation, Agriverde's Bio lines are also certified Bio-Vegan because they are produced without substances of animal origin, neither in the vineyard nor in the cellar: to best fertilize our vineyards we use algae and humic acids and - in the clarification processes - we do not use Albumin and Casein (substances deriving from eggs and milk). With the double certification we guarantee a very low risk of food intolerances: for the well-being of people and to preserve the health of the Planet. The Agriverde winery produces different types of wine, all grape varieties from Abruzzo, based on Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino and Passerina.
