Azienda Agricola Marramiero - A Brand Imprinted in Wine

We have been growing vines since the beginning of the last century and we produce wines that are recognized primarily by the labels on which the vigorous sign of the founder's seal stands out. A D and an M are intertwined in a root, gnarled and stubborn, determined not to detach itself from the ground on which it grew. A brand, ours, which represents wines that aim to continually surpass themselves.

We know each plant and we follow it daily in its life cycle with gestures handed down from generation to generation that are integrated with innovative studies of viticulture, experimentation and continuous training. The character of our wines, outlined by a strong territorial imprint, is formed in a specific path for each vineyard and each wine, starting from the plant and then continuing in the cellar. In the fermentation rooms the process takes place in open and closed barriques, stainless steel vats, Ganimede. The barrel room represents a fundamental moment in the life of those wines that spend up to twenty-four months there. The striving for perfection leads to combining tradition and progress in every detail. Our passion and the technical culture of wine translate into continuous investments in technology and processes. We have conceived the cellar so as to create environments in which the temperatures are constant and differentiated according to the processing and maturation periods. Few companies like ours choose the berries with such care, which after de-stemming are subjected one by one to the double screening of the optical X-TRI air jet sorter, which first identifies and expels green or immature berries, leaves, grass, thanks to a fluorescence analysis, and then discarding all the extraneous organic and inorganic elements with an infrared selection. Subsequently, presses, vacuum filters, latest generation fermenters guarantee the maximum exaltation of the original characteristics of the fruits, which will bring all their excellence into the Marramiero bottles. The quality of a wine depends above all on what nature is able to give to the grapes. For this reason, in our estates, we feed our plants only with natural products, through the cultivation under the vineyard and the green manuring of leguminous plants rich in nutrients. Thus the vines find a natural balance with the surrounding environment, minimizing the addition of treatments.

Tenuta Sant'Andrea

In the Tenuta Sant'Andrea, in Rosciano, we have planted vines that date back to the early 1900s and represent the true historical and cultural heritage of our company, from which all the cuttings used for the new plants come from. Tenuta Sant'Andrea extends about 300 m above sea level, for about 50 hectares, of which 30 are vineyards. In this area the vineyards receive excellent nourishment from the earth thanks to the presence of tuff and the predominantly clayey mixture of the soil. On the estate we cultivate 24 hectares of Montepulciano, around 2 hectares of Chardonnay in the Punta di Colle area, around 2 hectares of Pinot Nero for our sparkling wine base and we have planted the Maiolica, an ancient black grape variety.

Tenuta Milano

Tenuta Milano, in the Municipality of Rosciano, covers about 27 hectares. 15 hectares are planted with vineyards in Montepulciano and 6 in Pecorino. About 1 hectare, adjacent to the vineyards, there is an olive grove with the Maurino, Frantoio, Itrana and Leccio del Corno varieties. The remaining 5 hectares are woodland. Due to its composition, exposure and position, the land is highly suited to the cultivation of vines and olives. The vineyard is dominated by a farmhouse from the last century, which we have completely renovated as it originally was and reserved for a tasting room and convivial events.

Tenuta Tratturo

Tenuta Tratturo, together with Tenuta Sant'Andrea di Rosciano, represents the historical roots of our family. The land is characterized not only by its composition but also by a 360 ° exposure and by a flat position at about 200 m above the sea level, where particular aeration conditions are created which are favorable to the cultivation of vines and olives. On the estate we have planted 3 hectares of Trebbiano vines and 700 olive trees. Here we also produce clean energy for our business.

Tenuta Amarello

Tenuta Amarello is located in the plain of Ofena, known as the “Forno d'Abruzzo” due to the high temperatures reached in the summer, when a particular microclimate is created with strong temperature variations between night and day. The land, completely different from those closest to the coast of Gabriele d'Annunzio's "trabocchi", is characterized by the presence of pebbles that over millions of years have crumbled from the surrounding rocks, creating a very draining and arid soil where the vine must develop its roots in depth, in search of water and nourishment. On this site we have planted 6 hectares of Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino and Pinot Nero.
