Italian Chestnut Honey - 500 Gr.

Chestnut honey represents one of the main unifloral productions at national level. In fact, its plant characterizes the hilly woods of many Italian regions. It is easy to recognize it for its dark appearance with reddish reflections, and for its unmistakable bitter taste reminiscent of honeydew.

A pungent aroma that recalls woody notes. It is able to maintain the liquid state for a long time due to its high fructose content (as in acacia honey). It has a strong bitter component which makes it unsuitable for sweetening. On the other hand, it is perfect for flavoring cheese or meat dishes.

OUR CHESTNUT HONEY IS COLLECTED FROM HIVE LOCATED IN LAZIO.

Color: brown-amber, with reddish / greenish reflections, depending on the collection areas

Tendency to crystallization: very low

Odor: strong and intense, reminiscent of dry wood or Marseille soap.

Aroma: intense, similar to the smell, very persistent tannic.

Flavor: slightly sweet, with a mostly bitter aftertaste; astringent.

Uses: it is a particular honey that pleases those who usually do not like flat tastes and flavors that are too sweet. Its bitter taste makes it suitable to be eaten on bread with butter, in combination with the delicacy of ricotta or with aged cheeses.
