Cataldi Madonna - Conceptual wines

The wine business began in 1920 with the baron Luigi Cataldi Madonna, four generations ago. But it is his son Antonio who bottled for the first time in 1975. In 1990 his nephew Luigi took over and continued the family project of characterizing the products and enhancing the territory. Until the early 1990s, the Cataldi Madonna winery practically managed the entire wine-growing area of ​​Ofena by itself.

Today the company consists of 30 hectares (planted exclusively with native and traditional vines such as Montepulciano, Pecorino and Trebbiano), all located in the municipality of Ofena between 320 and 440 meters above sea level. In the countryside, the goal is to protect the varietal expressiveness of the grapes, especially through the management of the foliar apparatus.

In the cellar the aim is to preserve the determination in the wine, the flavor and freshness present in our grapes. Our wines always and exclusively derive from the same vines, which we have tested and appreciated for more than thirty years. The purpose of the company is to produce them even in difficult years, because in these they demonstrate to behave like expert sailors: they always return to port with any sea. Our wines are all vinified in purity and in reduction (in the absence of oxygen) and produced from certified organic grapes since 2016
