Pecorino IGT Terre Aquilane - Supergiulia
The Pecorino "Supergiulia" from the famous Abruzzo winery Cataldi Madonna is a white with intense aromas and great expressive freshness. It is a wine that was born at the foot of the Gran Sasso massif and is produced with the indigenous Pecorino vine in purity, a variety abandoned for a long time, which has been rediscovered and enhanced only in recent decades. It is a white with good body and a strong personality, which manages to combine rich and persistent aromas, with a basic freshness capable of making the sip always taut. It is a very pleasant and expressive wine when young, but it also has a good aging potential.
The "Supergiulia" is a particularly fine version of Pecorino, produced by one of the names that have made the history of Abruzzo wine. The Cataldi Madonna family has been running a farm in Abruzzo since 1920, but it is only towards the end of the 1960s that the estate is decidedly directed towards viticulture. In the following decades, also thanks to the impulse of Luigi Cataldi Madonna, the winery assumed the role of protagonist of the enological renaissance of the region, focusing on the rigorous selection of the best grapes of native vines and producing wines of the highest quality. Today the Cataldi Madonna labels are among the best expressions of the territory, capable of interpreting it in a straightforward and authentic way.
The "Supergiulia" Pecorino of Cataldi Madonna is a beautiful interpretation of this historic variety from Abruzzo, today much appreciated by enthusiasts. The vineyard is located in Macerone at an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, in an area characterized by good thermal excursions. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Before being bottled, the wine ages in steel tanks on the fine lees for 12 months.
It has a straw yellow color with bright reflections. The aromas are intense and rich, with notes of white flowers, aromas of citrus, yellow fruit, tropical fruit, nuances of medicinal herbs. The sip is decisive, with a center of the mouth with persistent aromas, which leads to a very fresh and mineral finish.
