Valle Reale is a farm made up of vineyards and vegetable garden, in which mountain agriculture is a daily practice, respectful of the delicate natural balance that surrounds it and of the traditions of this part of Abruzzo. The vineyards grow on a plateau at 350 meters above sea level, facing south-east to collect the sun's rays that rise from the Majella and the Morrone Mountains, and completely enveloped in the embrace of the mountains arranged in an amphitheater around them. There are two adjacent municipalities that welcome them, Popoli (PE), located at the beginning of the Peligna Valley, and Capestrano (AQ), overlooking the Piana di Ofena.

Our path began in 1998. In that year the Pizzolo family decided to recover an old vineyard of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo found inside the property, acquired years earlier, which was located in the valley surrounded by mountains, not far from the village of Popoli. The careful observation of the environment in which the vineyard was inserted and the passion for agriculture, inheritance of the peasant family for generations, led them to start an in-depth study on the origins of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The research, conducted together with Prof. Leonardo Valenti of the University of Milan, made it possible to trace the oldest evidence of the vine in some pristine mountain areas near Valle Reale. The historic Abruzzo pergola vineyard, dating back to 1960, cared for and restarted for production, has become the first cru of the company, the San Calisto vineyard. But not only that, he is in fact also "the father" of all the vineyards of Valle Reale. In fact, after careful selection of the plants, Montepulciano mountain gems were taken from them and subsequently grafted and used for the new plants. Thus the agricultural and agronomic project of Valle Reale took shape, which continues thanks to a close-knit and motivated group of people.

Abruzzo is the greenest region in Europe, with 36% of the entire surface consisting of three national parks, a regional park and over thirty natural reserves, with an area that for more than two thirds of the total lies above of 750 masl VALLE REALE is located between the provinces of Pescara and L'Aquila, at the point where the three parks meet: the Gran Sasso National Park and the Monti della Laga to the north, the Majella National Park to the south and the Regional Natural of Sirente-Velino to the north west. This is the mountainous and wild heart of the region. A real treasure chest that contains the biodiversity of the whole of Italy. Thanks to its still largely uncontaminated environment, it preserves numerous ecosystems and habitats, as well as many plant and animal species. Here the summers and winters battle it out because the heat, typical of these latitudes of central Italy, contrasts with the very rigid winters that constantly whiten the highest peaks of the mountains and often snow the plateaus for days. From the Gran Sasso the winds blow cold along the gorges of the Peligna Valley, in the territory of Popoli. Here, a few steps from Valle Reale, are the sources of the Pescara river, an oasis of purity protected by very strict laws that limit human activities throughout the area.
