Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 'Vineyard of Sant' Eusanio 'Valle Reale
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo “Vigneto di Sant'Eusanio” of Valle Reale is an intense and deep red. It is a version of Montepulciano that manages to combine the fruity pleasantness typical of young Montepulciano, with an aromatic complexity of great richness and persistence.
The long aging, first in steel and then in the bottle, does not change the salient features of the varietal face of the grape, but makes its features more marked and intense, underlining the breadth and richness of the aromas. A full-bodied red, which also has considerable aging potential.
The "Vigneto di Sant'Eusanio" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a label that represents a particularly suitable parcel of the Valle Reale estate. It is a small vineyard located in the middle of the woods, in an environment characterized by the presence of trees and shrubs, which create a great natural biodiversity. The vines were planted in 2002 at about 500 meters above sea level, on lean soils rich in pebbles. The northern exposure and a strong thermal excursion between the day and night temperatures lead to a slow ripening of the grapes with a fresh and elegant profile.
It is a typical mountain Montepulciano, which prefers elegance and pleasantness to drink to power, and the refined facet of perfumes and aromas to very ripe and dense fruit. The “Vigneto di Sant'Eusanio” of Valle Reale is the expression of the best grapes of a company cru.
At the end of the harvest, the best grapes are fermented in steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins. The wine ages 12 months in steel tanks and completes the refinement with 8 months in the bottle before being put on the market. It has a rather dark ruby red color, with light purple reflections. The olfactory profile recalls aromas of ripe red fruit, small berries, shady notes of undergrowth, humus, hints of oriental spices and medicinal herbs. On the palate it denotes a good structure, with a dense and energetic tannic texture. The body is deep and broad, with a harmonious and fresh finish. A label not to be missed, to get to know the personality of a thoroughbred Montepulciano.
