Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 'Vineyard of Popoli' Valle Reale
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo “Vigneto di Popoli” from Valle Reale is a particularly intense, complex and structured version of the most famous Abruzzo red. The grapes come exclusively from an old vineyard, traditionally known because it produces few bunches of great quality and aromatic intensity. It is a red that conquers for the richness of the fruit, for the ripe notes of small berries, the spicy nuances and the remarkable gustatory persistence. It is a great gastronomic wine, to be tasted with a mixed grill of meat or a roast of red meats.
The “Vigneto di Popoli” wine is one of the Valle Reale labels of excellence, created to enhance the particular characteristics of one of the best vineyards on the estate.
The 46 hectares that make up the property are divided into different plots, which are located in the countryside of Popoli and Capestrano, in a mountainous area surrounded by three natural reserves: the Gran Sasso National Park, the Majella National Park and the Sirente-Velino Regional Park.
The "Vigneto di Popoli" is located in this splendid uncontaminated environment, with a sunny south-east exposure towards the Majella and the Morrone Mountains. It is an old vineyard of only one hectare, planted next to an oak forest, which contributes to the environmental biodiversity of the area. The cold winds that descend from the Apennine peaks create considerable thermal excursions between the day and night temperatures, favoring the ripening of bunches with a rich and intense aroma.
The "Vigneto di Popoli" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo di Valle Reale was born from the parcel of the same name, planted with vines that are about 70 years old, grown on calcareous-clayey soils. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks with only indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the skins for about 10 days. Before bottling, the wine ages in French oak tonneau for a period of about 12 months.
In the glass it has a dark ruby red color. The bouquet expresses intense spicy notes, aromas of small dark berry fruits, ripe red fruit, shady hints of undergrowth, humus and floral nuances. On the palate it has a good body, with lively and well integrated tannins and a very persistent finish, which closes on pleasant fresh and savory notes. A label not to be missed for those who love Montepulciano and want to discover its true face.
