Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop

The first line created by the Pasetti company, a classic among its 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. An elegant and highly representative red of its production area in Pescosansonesco (PE), in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

Serving method: Leave the wine to rest for at least 10 days after arrival. In order to grasp all its qualities, it is advisable to uncork the bottle 2 - 3 hours before serving it in medium-sized glasses at a temperature of 18 ° C.

Food Pairing: First courses elaborated with red sauce, timbale, wild boar, red meats and aged cheese.

Production area: The vineyards extend in the Municipality of Pescosansonesco at 550 m a.s.l. within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. The soil is characterized by a clayey-limestone matrix, rich in organic substance, sloping, facing north-east. The summer climate is dry and well ventilated.

Characteristics of the variety: Montepulciano is a native Abruzzese variety: it prefers clayey soils, tolerates drought well and ripens late. The concentration of anthocyanins is among the highest in the world. Rich in tannins, it can be astringent especially if drunk young. The notes of red fruits surprise for their intensity

Vineyard: 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, density of 5200 vines / ha, yield of 100 q / ha, mechanical harvest towards mid-October.

Vinification: In red: maceration and fermentation in steel for 8 - 10 days with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature of 20 - 22 ° C.

Aging: 6 months in steel, 12 months in large oak barrels of 20hl and 60hl and subsequent 12 months in bottle.

Sensory Analysis: Intense ruby ​​red color. Hints of black cherry, black currant and blackberry, accompanied by nuances of licorice, cinnamon and black pepper. In the mouth it is very soft, with elegant and ripe tannins. Excellent structure and persistence.
