Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Valle Reale

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo di Valle Reale is a red that expresses in a direct and authentic way the best varietal characteristics of this great grape from our central Italy. It is a rich wine, characterized by a great fruity exuberance and a typically artisan face. The choice of a vinification only in steel, underlines the character of genuine typicality, enhancing its generous sip, its important structure and its ability to sit at the table with many dishes, from first courses with savory sauces to meat main courses. The red Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the wine that best represents the splendid territory of the Valle Reale estate.

Montepulciano is grown at over 350 meters above sea level, in a still uncontaminated natural context, which is located in the center of the Abruzzo Apennine mountains, among the natural reserves of the Gran Sasso National Park, the Majella National Park and the Sirente-Velino Regional Park. The vineyards are exposed to the south-east at the beginning of the Peligna Valley, and to Capestrano in the Piana di Ofena, in some of the most suitable areas of the region.

In the countryside, the rules of organic and biodynamic agriculture apply. The soils are poor and pebbly, perfect for naturally limiting yields. The climate, cool and continental, characterized by strong temperature variations between day and night, brings the grapes to a very slow ripening which is completed only at the beginning of November.

Valle Reale's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine is the simplest and most immediate version of the red typical of the area. It wants to be the classic everyday wine, which retains an agile sip and a pleasant expressive immediacy. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, with maceration on the skins and the use of indigenous yeasts only. The wine rests for 6 months in steel tanks and is bottled without filtration. In the glass it has a dark ruby red color, crossed by purple veins. On the nose it releases intense aromas of small dark berry fruits, ripe red fruit, hints of humus and undergrowth, spicy notes and nuances of licorice root. On the palate it has a good structure, with a juicy and crunchy fruit, lively and energetic tannins and a finish of vital freshness. It is a great Montepulciano, intense, flowing and dynamic.
