Pecorino d'Abruzzo Doc - Chronicon
The "Chronicon" by Zaccagnini is a Pecorino produced in the Pescarese area, characterized by beautiful freshness and aromatic persistence. Vinified exclusively in steel in order to keep the natural characteristics of the variety alive, it has aromas of orange blossom, plum, grapefruit and wildflower honey on the nose, animating a full and juicy sip, with an interesting citrus persistence.
The Pecorino "Chronicon" is a lively and jovial expression of a vine that well expresses the expressiveness of the whites that are made in the regions of central Italy. Fresh on the palate and aromatic on the nose, it is really a valid help on the table, where it accompanies both the most abundant aperitifs and the whole meal, especially in combination with first and second courses based on fish and seafood. A versatile label, therefore, worked only in steel, with which the Zaccagnini winery is confirmed as one of the most interesting local production realities.
The "Chronicon" is a pure Pecorino, a white grape variety that is widely spread within the Abruzzo regional borders. The bunches, after the manual harvest, are taken to the rooms used for the vinification of Zaccagnini, where they are de-stemmed. Soft pressing of the grapes and cryomaceration follow; the must then ferments in stainless steel containers where the temperature is kept under control. The refinement takes place for a few months only in the bottle and then the wine can finally be marketed during the spring following the harvest.
The Pecorino "Chronicon" signed by the Zaccagnini winery develops in the glass with a typically straw color, which is influenced by pale, more greenish reflections in the nail. The nose is elegant and delicate, which is built around honeyed touches and sensations that recall fruit, even exotic in some nuances in which a hint of grapefruit is noted. On the palate it is medium-bodied, extremely drinkable thanks to a fresh sip, with a pleasant citrus persistence on the finish. A label that, like all those made by Zaccagnini, confirms that it knows how to combine quality at affordable prices for everyone.
